UFCW Local 770 Meets with Michael Strumwasser

President Ricardo F. Icaza and Secretary-Treasurer John M. Grant discuss proposed acquisition of Vons/Safeway by Albertsons, with noted anti-trust attorney Michael J. Strumwasser.
Mr. Strumwasser was with the California Attorney General John Van de Kamp’s office in 1990 when American Stores bought out Alpha Beta. He was instrumental in getting an injunction against the merger. Mr. Icaza worked with Attorney General Van de Kamp to ensure that the seller had to require the purchaser to be signatory to a collective bargaining agreement.
